Leon

My frien Rick, an American history professor, and I went to Leon to check out the amazing colonial era cathedrals and pro-Sandinista museums.
I could make out about ten volcanoes in the distance.
We took the rooftop tour.

Very pro-Sandinista town. Here is a mural of Sandino squashing Uncle Sam. (Nicaraguans will never forget American support of the Contras and the American embargo against the Sandinista Revolution in the 1980's.)
I bought this little boy a pair of black shoes, which are a required part of the school uniform, so that he can attend classes again.
The hotel where I stayed. The owners were so sweet.
