Yesterday, I conducted many interviews in a primary school called Ruben Dario Mongalo y Rubio, as well as attended an end of the semester party at a preschool where
Trine and Camilla volunteer. Here are some pictures...

A little 'princesa.' Many of the little girls were dressed up like princesses for the party.
It was very cute.
Here's the clown making balloon animals. (Trine and Camilla paid for him to come as a special treat for the kids.) The little girl on the bottom-right has the same skeptical/fearful look on her face in all five of the shots I have with her in it.
Now the teacher gets to take a whack at the Barney piñata. Unfortunately, she only knocked the body off and Barney's head was swinging from the ceiling for a while. Fortunately the kids were too preoccupied with the candy on the floor to notice.
Watching the clown...The little girls kept screaming 'mariposa.' (They wanted him to make a butterfly out of the balloons). However, it seemed that the clown could make only three different things--so the girls kept getting dogs and hearts and the boys received swords.
Here's the front office of the primary school Ruben Dario Mongalo y Rubio. It was rebuilt by the Luxembourg government a few years ago. Even though the buildings and supplies look really great, most of the kids in the school are child workers and/or are extremely poor. Many cannot afford uniforms, school supplies, or medical treatment. I am working with the principal to come up with a list of supplies that are needed here.

A look at the school grounds. At least here students like these two boys are not barred from classes for not being able to afford school uniforms. This is not always the case.
